Size Guide
Zimmermann uses its own numeric sizing rather than standard Australian sizes, which is the single most common reason people hesitate before buying. Here is how it converts.
| Zimmermann | AU | UK | US |
|---|---|---|---|
| 00 | 4 | 4 | 2 |
| 0 | 6 | 6 | 4 |
| 1 | 8–10 | 8–10 | 6 |
| 2 | 10–12 | 10–12 | 8 |
| 3 | 12–14 | 12–14 | 10 |
| 4 | 14–16 | 14–16 | 12 |
This is the conversion used by Zimmermann's authorised stockists. Note that 00 follows petite sizing and is generally suited to anyone under about 160cm.
The chart is a starting point, not the whole answer
Fit varies considerably between Zimmermann collections. Corseted and boned styles run firmer through the bodice, while linen pieces and anything with a relaxed or billowing cut can comfortably take a size up. That is why a size 1 dress often suits an AU 8 through to a small AU 10 — the same label behaves differently depending on the cut.
For reference, Zimmermann's own runway and campaign models are typically around 175cm and wear a size 1.
How to be certain
Every piece we list carries flat measurements in centimetres. The most reliable method is to lay out a garment you already own and love the fit of, measure it flat across the same points, and compare. That will tell you more than any size label.
Where a particular style runs noticeably true, small or generous, we say so in the listing.
Buying preloved Zimmermann
Archive and older-season pieces can differ from current sizing, and anything altered by a previous owner will differ again. We note any alteration we find. If you are unsure about a specific piece, get in touch and we will measure it again for you before you buy.
